Weekend Deal: Kingston HyperX 120GB $179.95

by: admin Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

Yet again, Buy.com comes through with the most attractive price tag we’ve seen on a high-end SSD. This time the turn has come to Kingston’s HyperX–a drive that most readers will recognize as one of the top models in the fleet based on the SandForce SF-2281 controller. Buy.com claims that the current $179.95 deal is a $213 savings, which might hold some truth relative to the list price, but based on what it sells for elsewhere online it is still a healthy $40 to $50 less.

Get it from Buy.com for $179.95 including free shipping. Expires 11/07/2011.

HyperXThe Kingston HyperX SSD is equipped with synchronous Intel NAND flash, which puts the drive in the performance segment among the already fast SF-2200 drives. It offers sequential read speeds of up to 555MB/s and write speeds up to 510MB/s. Peak random read IOPS is an impressive 95,000. In other words, it is playing a whole other field than Kingston’s older SSDNow series. It is quite simply one of the speediest 2.5-inch SSDs out there at the moment. It is of course equipped with native TRIM,SMART and garbage collection.
