OCZ Moves in on the 1.8-inch Form Factor

by: admin Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

OCZ is an extremely fast-moving manufacturer when it comes to introducing new technology and more importantly new SSDs. And they are certainly not resting on their laurels – now they are about to hit the shelves with two new 1.8″ drives for ultrathin and ultra-everything laptops – including the likes of MacBook Air, Lenovo X301 and Dell Latitude E4200.

Vertex 2 Small

Two variants are on the horizon. A Vertex 2 drive based on the Sand Force 1200 controller that comes in capacities up to 240GB, which is very impressive for an 1.8-inch drive, and a cheaper variant called Onyx, based on an Indilinx controller. The latter will only hold up to 64GB. Both drives will support TRIM.
