Sandisk iSSD: Impressive in More Ways than One
The tiny green PCB on the image below is nothing less than a 64GB SSD from Sandisk, dubbed iSSD. The fact that it’s so small (like a postage stamp) is only trumped by its impressive speed–at least considering the miniscule size of this thing. Data storage media has indeed come a long way in the last 5 or so years.

It weighs less than a paperclip and comes in storage capacities ranging from 4GB up to 64GB. It’s apparently made with mobile gaming devices in mind, but will no doubt find its way into other gadgets as well. The quoted read speed (160MB/s) and writes (100MB/s) in the iSSD are actually somewhat better than the first generation 2.5-inch solid state drives. How about stacking a few dozen of these in a 2.5-inch casing and running them in internal RAID?

Wow, this is amazing tech. Wouldn’t mind having a stack of these in SD, as well.
