New Firmware for the RealSSD C300

by: admin Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Crucial’s RealSSD C300 is one of the the fastest  – if not the fastest – solid state drives on the market presently, but has recently suffered from serious firmware problem, where some units went inoperable after the manufacturer’s latest update. Lexar withdrew the offending firmware update, but now they are releasing it again with a new software update that should minimize the risk of these issues.

Otherwise, the firmware is not really different from the 0002 update and comes with improved TRIM support, lower power consumption, improved data integrity and performance that persists even when the device is filled with data – another issue that has been highlighted by users and reviewers. More details and download links to the new firmware can be found on Crucial’s website.
